Our Story
Every jar has a story. This is ours.
When I came to Canada from Uganda in 2001, I thought the hardest part would be leaving the place I called home.
I was wrong.
The hardest part was trying to recreate the feeling of home while starting over in a new country.
Back home, meals weren't simply about food. They were how we cared for one another. They brought family together, filled our homes with laughter, and created moments that stayed with us long after the plates were cleared.
Like many newcomers, life in Canada became busy almost overnight. Work, children, school, and endless responsibilities made it harder to prepare the meals I grew up with. I wanted the same rich flavours and comforting aromas, but I also needed a way to make dinner possible on even the busiest days.
That's when I discovered that preparing a flavourful cooking base ahead of time could change everything. Dinner became less stressful, my kitchen felt organized again, and I could spend less time worrying about what to cook and more time with the people I loved.
Years later, that simple idea became Siika Foods.
Today, every jar is inspired by the recipes, techniques, and traditions I learned from the remarkable women who taught me that cooking is one of the greatest expressions of love. We carefully craft our sauces in small batches using fresh ingredients that are vegan, gluten-free, preservative-free, and made to help you create meals full of bold flavour with confidence.
But Siika is about more than making cooking easier.
It's about celebrating the everyday people who prepare meals for the ones they love.
The parents who come home from a long day at work and still make dinner.
The grandparents who keep family traditions alive.
The busy professionals finding time to gather everyone around the table.
The home cooks whose love is often expressed through a meal, even if it isn't always recognized.
We believe those everyday cooks deserve to feel appreciated.
Because behind every delicious meal is someone who chose to care.
Today, every jar of Siika carries a little piece of my journey. My hope is that it brings a little peace, confidence, and joy to your kitchen while helping you create meals you'll be proud to serve.
We'd be honored to become part of your family's story.
With gratitude,
